Mayku, a developer of desktop vacuum forming systems, announced the launch of its new Mayku Multiplier pressure forming machine.

Multiplier, developed in cooperation with Teenage Engineering, aims to bring industrial-grade pressure forming to the workshop, with a focus on affordability and accessibility. The equipment is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises and individual creatives, and can be used to make custom parts such as 3D printed models into molds, so as to achieve mass production in a few minutes.

The cost of a traditional industrial pressure forming machine can exceed $200,000 and usually requires a lot of floor space. Multiplier changed everything with a desktop form factor and a price tag of only $4,999.

Mayku CEO and co-founder Alex Smilansky said: “We heard that creators want to control their production end-to-end without relying on factories or having to make large minimum orders With the help of Multiplier, we set out to build a machine that allows chocolate manufacturers to launch new products and put the power back in the hands of the manufacturers; dedicated to the craftsmen and artisans who create new soaps, candles or jewelry; industrial design engineers in mass production Before prototyping small batch parts."

Use Mayku for desktop-based molding manufacturing

The origins of Mayku can be traced back to Kickstarter. The startup raised more than $500,000 in crowdfunding for its debut vacuum forming machine in 2018. In order to allow small creatives to conduct their own mass production business, the company intends to make product manufacturing more streamlined and cost-effective.

The company's original FormBox vacuum forming machine sells for approximately US$830 and can make polymer sheet molds for only US$1 each. Creators such as soap manufacturers, candle holder manufacturers, and chocolate manufacturers can completely eliminate the need for third-party manufacturers, thereby reducing costs and significantly saving mold delivery time. The delivery time of outsourced molds can take as long as several weeks, but FormBox shortens the molding process of such internal molds to 10 seconds.

Mayku's second product, Multiplier, can create detailed shapes by applying more than four tons of force to the sheet. The system is compatible with a range of materials, such as flexible boards (silicone-like), resin boards, transparent cast boards, white sketches (for rapid prototyping), and white general-purpose molding boards. The machine adopts a 685 x 600 x 600mm body and a 400mm diameter forming bed, which is specially designed for users who are looking for a simple desktop experience.

Since Multiplier requires template parts to create molds, the company recommends using the system in conjunction with a desktop 3D printer. Using 3D printing templates, users can shape custom and complex geometric shapes, which can produce shapes that would otherwise be impossible to cast. The equipment can form a mold in about four minutes.

After forming, the mold plate can be used to cast a replica of the original template model using a pourable liquid material. Mayku's sheets are compatible with resin, concrete, wax and even chocolate, and can be used in consumer product housings, medical trays, food and wearable devices and other applications. What is impressive is that Multiplier is able to pick up lines and grooves only 3 microns thick, which means that the ink on the surface of the template will be visible in the mold.

Mayku co-founder and CPO Ben Redford concludes: “Multiplier can quickly replicate 3D printing and other shapes for in-house manufacturing. With its absolute precision, Multiplier is comparable to silicone or injection molding. Access to the factory level on the desktop The product opens up a world of endless possibilities for end users, because they can start to expand their business with better materials and at a low cost."

The following are the technical specifications of the Mayku Multiplier pressure forming machine. The device will be available for pre-order starting in October. The quantity is limited and the early bird price is US$1,999 (usually US$4,999).
