The body of a young girl was found in a duffel bag in Oregon. Her mother was arrested at a traffic stop in Detroit.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Shauna Browning and her girlfriend, 33-year-old Lauren Harrison, on Tuesday (November 30). According to Oregon State Police, the two women were charged with serious murder for the murder of Browning’s daughter, 9-year-old Hayley May Koblenz.

About a year ago, on December 10, 2020, police found the body of a little girl in a forest near a rest station in Lincoln County, Oregon. She was put in a duffel bag.

Since the body was not found within 30 to 60 days, detectives were unable to determine the identity of the victim and performed a DNA sample test. It was not until October this year that the girl was identified as Koblenz, and she was only 9 years old when she died.

The law and crime report stated that the girl had never been to school, and her mother and her long-term partner had never reported that the girl was missing.

"We found them with the help of the Detroit FBI. Yesterday they conducted a traffic stop and detained both of them," Captain Stephanie Bigman told KOIN-TV. "As a law enforcement officer, you are shocked. You really just want to do everything possible to find the person responsible."

Browning and Harrison are currently being held in Detroit, awaiting extradition to Oregon.
