Officials said that during the night crackdown on Friday, the deputy sheriff seized dozens of vehicles with fake paper license plates on the streets of the Bronx.

New York City Sheriff Joseph Fucito said that authorities raided the 45th precinct in Co-Op City and the 47th precinct in the northern Bronx at around midnight and around 6 am and intercepted 76 illegal vehicles.

According to New York City Sheriff Joseph Fucito (Joseph Fucito), officials use license plate reader technology to identify some offending vehicles.

He said that two of the rogue vehicles were towing trailers, and the other vehicles included a bucket truck.

Fucito said the sheriff will investigate who actually owns the cars.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Fucito said: "Putting a fake license plate on your vehicle exposes drivers to a series of vehicle, traffic and parking violations, as well as the potential for non-payment of commercial motor vehicle taxes or motor vehicle tax use. Tax violations." Operation.

Fucito said the car owner will be held responsible for any pending verdicts for unpaid speeding, camera and parking violation summons, as well as any criminal sanctions for their actions.

The sheriff said: "We think this is a very important project because these license plates are used to avoid various security cameras-speed, red light camera systems, and New York City's toll system."

Fucito said that in the past two months, the deputy police chief seized 120 vehicles and more than 100 people received criminal and civil penalties for displaying fake license plates.

In an operation in Brooklyn last month, the sheriff seized 43 vehicles with fake cardboard from the 69th, 63rd, and 67th districts, including communities such as Canarsie, Flatbush, and Mill Basin.

The latest night operation brought the total number of fake-licensed vehicles seized by the Sheriff’s Office to 196.
