Have you ever wondered if there is a way to solve the blockage problem of Namma Ooru? Well, when this Bangalore guy Fedding Sylvester's new invention may be Bangalore's solution to clogging the drain, please don't think too much!

After completing his master's degree in environmental engineering in Singapore, he immediately began his journey in the solid waste management industry. He said: "I realize that I can use my recent knowledge and combine it with my old experience to adjust the way of solving problems, such as in Singapore and Europe, which are controlled and developed regions that are very similar to Bangalore. Of course, This is also suitable for India's low-cost, high-volume and unorganized management environment."

That was when he designed and built a machine called Therminator. It is a refrigerator-like machine that can compress several kilograms of hot glue into small pieces by using heat, pressure and gravity, and can reduce a batch of hot glue to 80% of its volume. In addition to building the machine as a single point solution to compress Thermocol, Ecobel also connects suppliers, recyclers, and garbage collectors to build an overall self-sustaining ecosystem that makes Thermocol's recycling profitable.

Ferdin said: "At the moment, I am raising awareness of Thermocol's recycling potential. If citizens ensure that Thermocol arrives at DWCC in Bangalore, Ecobel and Therminator will ensure that Thermocol is no longer a waste that ends up on the streets, burns, or clogs the sewer system. "

Ferdin firmly believes that solid waste management is a serious problem in the city. "The waste we produce is properly treated, upgraded, recycled or recycled, and landfill or incineration is the last choice. We need to remember that the garbage we throw away will be returned. Give us the way."

Currently, his main focus is to advance his Therminator design. When he saw people’s reaction, he was ecstatic, "I like the Thermocol's understanding of Thermocol recycling. When people tell me'Ferdin I don't know Thermocol can be recycled', my face will be happy. Smile," he said.

As Bangalore always focuses on solving short-term problems for the city, Ferdin believes that “the solution to the congestion problem is multi-pronged, and I have many suggestions. We need to rethink and plan, keeping in mind that nature is here to help us.”

However, in addition to his passion for building unique solid waste management equipment and machinery, Ferdin is also a writer and rock climber. He further shared his interests outside of work. "Recently, I have met many people outside the environmental protection field, discussing different problems and solutions informally, and understanding the connections between things; journalists, politicians, economists and Social workers, etc. Only through such discussions and fusion of ideas can we create an overall solution to get things back on track."
